Neck and shoulders
Pain in the neck and shoulder area is common. The problems often coincide with harmless age-related changes in the tissues and structures that make up the cervical spine - discs, joints, cartilage, ligaments, muscles and bones. Your life situation, work and exercise habits also affect the extent to which you are affected. The body eventually adapts to the new situation, whereupon the pain subsides and the function improves. You can influence how quickly and to what extent this adjustment takes place through your handling of the problems. The physiotherapist can help relieve the discomfort through manual treatment or pain relief and help you with activity adjustment and exercise rehabilitation.
